Shirayuki Airi is a ghoul who has been going through life, trying to be self-sufficient. She goes to college classes, she tries to hunt on her own. She doesn't know that she's had a protective shadow for years and when she finally comes face to face with him, Airi becomes determined to keep him in her sights. While she's pursuing her mysterious shadow, she catches the attention of a particular mask maker.

I almost slap him but refrain myself. I just need peace and quiet, my body is still buzzing from the unacknowledged memories of the club, and the twisted fragments of my past that it tore from the parts of my subconsciousness that I don't want to think about. I can’t fight with him. Not now.
“Bishop! I’m fuckin’ talking to you!” His accent is so much more potent when he’s angry, and fuck, he is angry. He doesn’t need to shout to prove it, the rumbling timbre pins me to the spot more effectively than a raised voice ever could. And you know what? Bring it on.
I turn to face him, folding my arms over my chest. “What, Ghost? What did I do?”
“You’re going to tell us who you really are right now, or I bury a bullet in your brain, same way I killed Seymour.” -
