Summary
"You have no fucking decency," Will yells, as he grasps the canvas that held a perfect painting, into ugly spills and strokes of blue and black.
Mike's eyebrows are upturned desperately, but he still bites back smugly. "I'm so, super sorry, Will." But now it's mocking. It's sarcastic and ugly, like how Will sounded when he shredded Mike's lyric sheets. Will storms to Mike, grabs the collar of his shirt in a fistful with both of his hands, and smacks him against the wall.
"I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean to," Mike says in one, hurried breath, his breathing shaky and hot.
Now that sounded scarily sincere.

Will Byers can't pay off the rent by himself, and to be honest, an apartment without anybody else is blatantly boring. He's tried coercing Dustin, who immediately refuses once Stacey takes him back. Dustin luckily knows a guy, though, and gives Will's information to him. To Will, Mike's okay. He's polite and honest. Until he starts to bend the rules.

"Mike grew and matured and his fantasies of Will Byers followed suit. Where when he was younger he envisioned trading toys and running across long grassy fields with the boy, Mike now imagines what it’d be like to have Will Byers sat in the passenger seat of his beat up blue pickup truck, just within enough reach for Mike to place a firm hand on his leg or a wet kiss on his cheek. When he had dinner with his family, Mike imagined Will Byers in the empty chair next to his, a hand reached over to trace gentle but unintelligible patterns along the fabric of Mike’s jeans with the tip of his fingernail. The frequency of Mike’s ‘Will Byers-related’ reveries should have been concerning to him; it would’ve been to anyone who knew of them. It surely would’ve been concerning to Will Byers himself.
Yet it was that exact reason that Mike never put too much thought on the ethical nature of his delusional immersions; The real Will Byers was practically non-existent on every other day besides Sunday."

"Can we get back to summer plans?" Lucas cuts in. "I feel like there's nothing to really explore here. There's a bowling alley that just opened up, but it's about an hour away."
"Do any of us even know how to bowl?"
"I'm pretty good at it," Max shrugs a shoulder. "I'd leave you all in the dust."
"I bet a dollar you don't get one strike-"
"I might be a bit busy- I'm actually thinking of getting a job," Will pipes up, and Mike's head snaps in his direction so quickly that Will can hear it crack.
"What?"
or, a lifeguard au. Will's trying to focus on getting a job so he can pay off his student loans, but Mike's focusing on ways to get him fired. Dustin just wants the party to stick together this summer. There's no better way to spend the sweatiest months than being employed for $4.25 an hour while dealing with piss in chlorine. And kissing your best friends too, preferably.
