Synopsis:
In the timeline we know, Akira gains the power of a phantom thief after oppression and uses his power to defeat evil. It's a story we all know. It is impressive, how someone of such a backstory could end up still fighting for justice.But it's easy to forget: At the start, Akira had to fight for justice. Kamoshida did not leave Akira the choice to just keep his head low- he threatened Akira's life, and then tanked his school reputation. Akira undoubtedly intervened for the sake of his new friends, but make no mistake - Akira was initially forced into his role of justice. By the time he was safe to leave, he had gained powerful friendships and allowed his anger and resentment at his situation to lessen. To be less oppressed.
What if he wasn't forced? What if he gained the power, while still filled with resentment, he wasn't forced to fight for justice? If a far more tempting offer reached out it's hand, even though it was wrong?
That is what Yaldabaoth intended to test, hedging his entire game upon his final bet.

Summary

Summary
Vampires. Common mythos in the wider world, very common in Japanese reality.
A gene that transforms those it activates in. Makes them think a different way from humans. Not evil, not violent, just... different. Practical in different ways. Cunning in different ways.
Gives them abilities unnatural and unexplainable by even modern science. Makes them need a food source previously unneeded.
It is only natural they are feared, and that fear leads to hatred.
But hatred blocks off any path to reconciliation. And deals left to be made. And the hated must survive on their own.
Yet a salvation comes from the last place they expected - from the power of their hunter.

Summary
After gaining allies in both Aigis and Yu Narukami, Mitsuru is able to develop a tool to find other wildcards. Upon finding one, she trains the boy to the best of her ability, until he is dragged into a political fight.
Mitsuru, being herself, obviously wins, but sends Akira Kurusu off to Tokyo to let things cool down a bit.
In hindsight, she really should have known better than to send a wildcard somewhere new.
