“Wei Ying is here. With me. I won’t let you disappear.”
The concern on his face must have been obvious as his husband’s demeanour immediately changed. He turned around his upper body, remaining in his lotus position, and started poking Lan Zhan’s serious expression, trying to make him smile.
“Ahh, I know. Aiyo, don’t look so serious. That’s not what I meant. With disappearing, I mean my old me. Wei Wuxian, Head-Disciple from Yunmeng Jiang Clan. Not Wei Wuxian the Yiling Laozu or Wei Wuxian alias Mo Xuanyu. Just Wei Wuxian. So many things have happened that have washed away who I initially was. And I thought... Jiang Cheng must be feeling the same."

With a groan, Nie Mingjue turned around in his bed, pressing his face into his pillow accompanied by a long sigh before he gathered enough energy to swing his legs out of his bed. The bright red numbers on his alarm clock felt like they were burning his eyeballs. 04:07. Fucking 4 am. Was he fucking serious?!
It looked like he was going to behead his beloved Didi tonight.

Beside him suddenly stood a man almost as tall as he himself, hidden under a dark purple cloak. The deep voice had startled Lan Xichen. Though his body was too slow to react accordingly, not moving an inch. The man slid down the hood from his head, lifting it in the process to not tear at his hairpiece. The movement caused more water to drip from his clothes to the floor, adding to the puddle Lan Xichen had been creating since his arrival. Not that he cared. Because as soon as the other man revealed his face, dread started to crawl up his spine. Beside him was standing Sect Leader Jiang. Ignoring the fact that Lan Xichen had been almost completely isolated for a year and could barely muster enough self-control to ask a random innkeeper for a room, he definitely wasn't in any way ready to face a fellow cultivator, let alone one of the people who had been present that very day a year ago. A person who had seen him break into pieces right in front of him.
Or: Lan Xichen tries to piece himself together after the events at Guanyin Temple. Jiang Cheng has his own piecing to do. Everyone needs a little help.

“I’m not poking into anything! I’m just offering a solution to your-” Pei Ming uses his fingers to outline the general area around Feng Xin’s body, “-situation.”
“Situation?” At this point Feng Xin is almost trying not to look offended.
“You’re pent up, man!”
“Excuse me?” Nope, he’s definitely just full on offended now.
“You abandoned little ol’ me during our workout today.”
Feng Xin scoffs. “Not my fault you slack off to flirt with anything that fucking moves. Some of us take our fitness seriously.”
“Xin-er you ran 15 miles on the treadmill.”
Feng Xin shrugs, “I made a PR.”
“You hate cardio!”
“Maybe today I don’t.”
“Oh, come oooooonnn!” Pei Ming drones and waves his hand as if swatting a fly. “See? This is what I mean.” He pokes Feng Xin in the chest as he enunciates. “Pent. Up. Let your gege give you some pointers.”
“Don’t you fucking say that. You’re not my ge.”
“Why? Does ‘baba’ work better for you?”or
Pei Ming thinks the only way to satisfy a pent up Feng Xin is to get him to a party and get him laid. He isn't wrong.

It was quiet, and when Olruggio’s head raised he saw that ever-present look on Qifrey’s face again.
The one where he looked hesitant, a little bit displaced, and so startingly unsure of himself.
“Olly, I’m...” he started, awkwardly trailing off as his hand traced to the top of his cap. “You know I don’t do too well with being... celebrated.”
He spoke the words as if the mere thought of it made him uncomfortable, his shoulders hunching up as he coiled that ribbon tight around his finger.
Olruggio reached between them.
“Of things worth celebrating,” he murmured, catching the ribbon with his finger and gently pulling it loose. “You being born is at the very top of my list.” He leveled Qifrey with a look. “Understand?”
Qifrey nodded slow as if in a daze, whispering out a hushed, “Yes,” as he watched Olruggio weave the ribbon between his fingers.
Or
Qifrey’s birthday comes around again, but this year Olruggio hoped to make it a bit more memorable.
Whether Qifrey liked it or not.
