Summary
“If you say another one,” Will says, voice low. “I’ll keep taking my clothes off.”
Mike raises a brow, suddenly very interested in the art of self-love. “Are you bribing me to compliment myself with your body? You know that’s my number one weakness.”
“Precisely.”
The truth is, Mike doesn’t need to think about it when something precious is on the line.
“I am enough,” he says.
OR: Mike is assigned homework in therapy, and Will is happy to help him see it through.

Summary
Mike Wheeler was a lot of things: stubborn to a fault and to his parents' dismay, clumsy as hell—curse his lanky body with its long limbs and bony, sharp edges—and socially awkward in ways that made "understatement" feel generous. Sometimes his brain was just so jumbled, his thoughts moving faster than his mouth could keep up, which led to him ranting and raving about whatever latest topic had piqued his interest, long past the point of anyone in the Party truly listening.
But he was also endlessly inquisitive. He always had been, ever since he was a child tugging on his mother's blouse with tiny hands sticky from maple syrup, asking questions about his parents' already crumbling marriage—questions he was far too young to understand at the time.
And he was fiercely loyal. He had sworn his oath to the Party long ago: to serve, to protect, to lead, to be The Heart, no matter what. Just as a good Paladin should.
But most of all? He was an idiot. A frankly oblivious, dense, dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks IDIOT. Because for all his book-smarts and nerdiness and his constant curiosity, his hunger for knowledge, he may as well have had the emotional self-insight of a stale, moldy piece of bread.

Will felt his soul slowly leaving his body.
Time seemed suspended, as if they were trapped in a parallel reality.
Then Will started to cry. A terrible cry, sobbing and heaving. The tears streamed down like a waterfall and he didn’t even try to stop them, he just lay there, in the arms of the man he loved and who, apparently, was preparing him for the inevitable end.
will thinks mike is preparing to leave him. mike is preparing to ask him to marry him. these turn out to be very different things, as you can imagine

Summary
“You didn’t actually like the color green. You liked what it meant.” Karen explains, talking with her free hand.
“What did it mean?” Mike shuffles in place to face her.
“Your favorite color has always been blue. Will’s was always yellow. I knew that because you talked about him all the time.” Karen smiles, places a hand on his cheek. “You used to say green was your new favorite color because that’s what blue and yellow made.”
Mike’s face fell.
“You wanted everything to be about you and Will.”
Or Mike is leaving for college. He finds more than what he bargained for.
