Summary
The moment Monkey D. Luffia saw the endless blue of the sea meeting the sky, she knew with every fiber of her soul she would sail the seas. It called to her with a siren's call of adventure, love, and freedom.
The day Luffy heard about the "King of the Pirates", she knew that her life would never be the same again. To be a pirate, to be a 𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔... that was freedom to her. Freedom to do whatever she wanted.
Fate was adamant on not giving Luffy what she wanted. Her parents completely non-existent from her life, her grandfather named the "Hero of the Marines" and barely able to visit more than a couple days a year, hated by the village except for two. With everything stacked against her, Luffy did what Luffy does best...
Ignore the signs and fight her way forward. She will be victorious in the end. And nothing will stand in her way to achieve her freedom, her dream.
Or, Luffy's a girl (which barely changes much), darker, smarter, and a smidgen more possessive (which changes quite a whole lot), and has a seemingly infinite amount of spite and chaos bottled up inside of a small 17 year old body (which probably changes every single thing anyone knows about the world). Oh, and her crew is just the same.

“Tell you what,” Sanji says, already mentally juggling the late hour, calculating the prep he has to do for tomorrow, reviewing the available contents in the fridge that he could throw together a take-out bag for this kid, and – he hates that he does this, now, especially with what he came from -- he takes in the kid’s tattered looking hoodie and sweatpants, wondering what he can afford – when all that is thrown to a halt by the sound of the kid’s stomach growling.
It’s loud, and hard to ignore. The kid’s smile fades once again, and he drops his arms to his sides, hands going inside the sleeves of his hoodie and head bowing. It’s not the sound someone’s stomach makes on a daily basis – it’s the sound of Sanji’s childhood. The sound of someone who hasn’t had a good meal in a while.

Summary
Sanji’s eyes follow a streak of moonlight through the porthole and instinctively seek out Luffy’s form. The balm to his burning wound, though he’s unlikely to put such sentiment into words.
Luffy’s hammock is empty, swinging jovially with the motions of the waves. A sudden—and embarrassing—shock of fear has Sanji nearly tripping out of his own hammock, only barely remembering to keep quiet.

Summary
Luffy who catches Hanahaki disease, a slightly sentimental Sanji, and the pain of first love.
One day, a yellow petal fluttered past Sanji’s eyes. A dandelion—fallen from Luffy’s lips just as he tried to take a bite of Sanji’s food. Before Sanji knew it, Luffy was coughing for breath.
It was Hanahaki disease, a strange illness in which plants take root in the lungs. Every time Luffy opened his mouth wide, flowers forced their way out, tearing at him from the inside.
From that day on, Luffy stopped eating completely. The plant sustained him, making food unnecessary.
And for some reason, Sanji refused to leave his side. He kept finding excuses to sit beside his captain, making idle conversation while silently gathering the petals scattered around him.
Eventually, the disease progressed until Luffy lost the ability to speak. Even then, Sanji remained at his side, talking endlessly. As though he were trying to confirm something.

"Of course not, mademoiselle. If I had, I'd be back in the kitchen making you as many of these as you'd like. Although, I wouldn't get to see your lovely face."
She blinks as if nobody has ever said those words to her, complemented her appearance in any way. It breaks Sanji's heart to see her shift awkwardly as a warm flush creeps up her neck and cheeks.

There's a party. Luffy wants to attend, and Nami and Robin come up with the perfect disguise that works a little too well.

The first time Lucy learns of soulmarks, she is very small.
Her mother stands with her in her arms, a bright light of warmth and color. Her father stands behind them with an amused look on his face, but no less loving. Michelle is tucked underneath her arm, safe and sound.
Her mother turns Lucy around so she can see the soulmarks. A beautiful rose gold, as a stripe where her mother held her for the first time; where their skin connected between her neck and the beginning of her back. And a small brush of a thumb shaped mark on her forehead, beige and almost blending in with her hair. Where her father could reach and run his thumb over her skin for the first time.
Lucy smiles and laughs, twirling with her favorite dress on as she tries to see both soulmarks at the same time. She can still remember her mother's words, clear as a bell.
"These marks are a reminder that you're loved, baby. Even if you can't see it, it will always be there."
