Gi-hun froze when he heard the familiar words. The Frontman had asked him this before. In the same place. When Gi-hun had been leaving the room, he stopped him and asked him about it.
He did not answer him then.
He looked at In-ho's face, which was expecting an answer, yet seemed indifferent at the same time.
“I do.”
Gi-hun is trapped in a time loop, desperate to put an end to the games so much that he doesn't even notice what his real mission was.

And so what does Suyeol do? Go to the bar. Someone else is also there. Someone who looks exactly like K. But aside from looks he’s nothing like him. He doesn't care though, he’s drunk, and if the other man was willing to stick around then who is he to complain.

His voice comes through the other line, probably confused as to why he's getting a call from someone he hasn't spoken to in months, especially on Christmas Eve.
Jun-ho freezes. His voice settles low in Jun-ho's chest, still sharp enough to cut through the noise, still steady in a way that makes people stop and listen. Still the only voice that ever made him feel like maybe he wasn’t alone.
He swallows hard, eyes fixed on Mal-soon’s flushed, sweating face in the stroller.

Gi-hun Seong was a bad detective and an idiot.
Such was In-ho's impression of the man who had shown up out of nowhere to ask him for help on a mission that would likely prove fatal to one or two policemen. However, given In-ho's other option was to die of either boredom or misery, the offer was tempting. At least to some degree.
And if he were to be completely honest, what did he have left to lose?A story exploring what would have happened if Gi-hun and In-ho had joined forces as detectives in bringing the games that had ruined their lives to a definite end. Perhaps it was dangerous. Downright stupid even to challenge an organization that expansive and ruthless as spies living out the pretenses of Frontman and masked officer. But once the idea was there, it wouldn't leave them alone. Whispering promises of something great. Something worth staying alive for.

“A Jinn,” Steve corrects, but his hands are shaking.
She flips through the contract, her brow furrowing the more she reads. She works her way slowly through the restrictions and stops on the third page. Her eyes go back to the top, disbelief growing with each word.
“Fuck,” Robin gasps, and her wide eyes find his. “A child? They chose for you to be a human child?”
He nods, throat in knots.
“So,” she fumbles. “You’ve been serving the Harringtons for eighteen years?”
“Pretty much.”
“Jesus.”

Bile rose in In-ho’s throat, though it may just have been seasickness. That was twenty-two years into the future.
What on earth had happened?
Or: In-ho suddenly finds himself in the year 2024, with no little brother in sight. Lost at sea and completely alone, his only chance in finding his younger brother is to team up with a thirty-two year old Jun-ho, but In-ho can't shake the feeling that he's hiding something.
