    Jaina Proudmoore is the most powerful mortal mage of Azeroth, and she is sick of every other Horde Warchief turning out to be a despot like clockwork. When Sylvanas Windrunner wins her mak'gora against Varok Saurfang, Jaina's patience comes to an end - and so does Sylvanas' reign.

    Sylvanas is spared execution so that she will not become a martyr to her loyalists and to Horde sovereignty, but she is demoted and placed under house arrest - and Jaina herself will be the banshee's watcher. Because if there is one other thing Jaina is sick of, it's the collapse of every community she tries to nurture, her seemingly poison touch. But this vigil over a single banshee seems like something she can manage without it wilting and crumbling in her hands.

    Cut off from her resources and forced to exercise what power she still has through intermediaries, Sylvanas spends her days mostly alone under Jaina's watch. She worked to protect the Forsaken against an evil that lurks beyond Death; she tried to save her people from eradication; she tried to draw out and crush their enemies.
