Summary
There's not a lot you can use to prepare for having a half-alien kid, but that becomes a lot harder when it's hard to tell if there's anything human about him at all. Ever since Mark was a boy he seemed...different. Detached, angry, and difficult to relate to. His father claimed it was a normal part of growing up on his world and that in time the boy would become more disciplined and less prone to outbursts.
If they knew what he'd become, a lot more people would have realized just what Nolan's words implied about his home.

Summary
In the underground of Ba Sing Se, Aang and Iroh arrive to rescue Katara and Zuko—only for everything to go horribly wrong. Instead of blocking Zuko’s attack, Iroh dodges, and the flames strike Katara as she battles the Dai Li, delivering a fatal blow. Holding her as she dies cracks something deep inside Aang… and the world soon faces an Avatar with a very different set of ideals.
