There was a scar on the back of his left arm. A long, pale scar that would have required stitches. It was healed.
Miguel never had a scar there, and no scar that big and deep could have completely healed in less than 2 months.
You sit on Gabi’s bed and lean over, placing your hands on your knees. You try to steady your breathing and lower the risk of hyperventilation. The idea of you passing out head first and this other Miguel running upstairs to find you unconscious pops into your head and you laugh at the absurdity of the situation.
Because that’s who that man is - the other Miguel. He can’t be your Miguel.

Life as an ex con isn't easy, especially on the money side of things. When your friend tells you about a job offer to be a live-in nanny-- you gladly take it. Seems like a good enough deal, but you soon find it might be too good to be true. It's not your fault. How were you supposed to know that your new boss is the same asshole you ran into at the store just the day before? Wouldn't be that big of a deal...if his first impression wasn't you calling him a 'brony' and telling him to 'have fun jerking it to horses'.
That, and the fact that he's a cop.
