She doesn’t know what’s wrong — but she knows something IS wrong, and she wants, so badly, to help him. But how can she help him when he refuses to speak about it? And why is Alastor so much more coy and buddy-buddy than usual, too? Somehow, she thinks it’s connected to her father’s sudden meek temperament, and she doesn’t like it one bit.

An angel's wings are the most vulnerable part of their body. They’re incredibly fragile and sensitive to pain, so it takes a massive amount of trust for an angel to allow someone to touch their wings. To clean an angel's wings is an incredibly rare and intimate experience and triggers emotional bonding with the angel. Treat an angel's wings with great care, as to be given an angel's wings is the highest form of trust they can give you.
It had been millennia since Lucifer let anyone touch his wings. Besides Lilith when she had to help with preening, he kept them hidden unless necessary and only maintained them when it physically started to hurt. He didn’t really like to think about his wings, and preferred to keep them away and out of reach.
Then Charlie barreled into his life.

Summary
Moving into Charlie’s hotel after Extermination Day was not exactly what Lucifer had planned for, but he thought it would be terribly bad manners to back out now.
Helping during the clean up was a given, of course. And he damn sure hadn’t been willing to let Adam hurt her when he thought it was a bright idea to target the Princess of Hell. But Lucifer had never considered much of what the aftermath would look like, when things settled down again.
(Or, Lucifer is living with his daughter again for the first time in years. Somehow, it does not fix all of his problems.)

Lucifer is absolutely ecstatic when Charlie offers to include a permanent set of quarters just for him in the blueprints for the brand new Hazbin Hotel. Getting to see his little girl for as many meals a day as he remembers to eat is great! Except sometimes that number of meals is exactly zero, and other times he sees her but doesn’t quite manage to follow the whole conversation, but—it’s all group hangouts full of chatter from her little friends around these parts anyways! He’s sure that it’s hardly noticeable! ...He really hopes that it’s hardly noticeable.
Or: Lucifer has a difficult, very normal day. He tries very hard anyway.

It has been suggested that White Diamond got her ideas of how she had to be and run things from simply being told so by some Even Higher Power, but personally, I'd find this a little repetitive and not all that interesting, so here is an exploration of the Diamonds' backstory and, by extension, the origins of the gempire.
