Zoey opened her eyes to a familiar face. Mira was in front of her, snoring softly, one arm draped loosely around her waist. She smiled, already sinking back into the warmth of sleep. But as she shifted slightly, she became very aware of another body pressed against her back.
She sat up quickly, freaking out. Rumi was there too. Panic prickled at the edge of her thoughts as fragments from the night before slammed into her. The taste of alcohol and bile rose up her throat. She kissed Rumi, Mira also kissed Rumi. And everything’s fine, she reasoned. They’re laying down together in their bed the next morning, and they all kissed, and it’s fine.
Zoey threw up in the bathroom.

Slowly, she put the evoker to her temple, thinking back on Ikutsuki’s explanation of the persona, summoned by this gun-shaped tool.
Without further hesitation, she pulled the trigger, the sound of shattered glass echoing all around her as an incredible rush of power consumed her entire being. She looked down on all the others ("afraid, they are so afraid, why?"), feeling like a queen towering over ants, long-forgotten memories bubbling beneath the surface of her infinite mind, before one thought enveloped her soul.

Summary
So mostly it seems like Rumi’s doing well. She wears her patterns openly, almost defiantly. She stops locking herself away in her room. When she wakes in the middle of the night, breathless and panicked from haunting dreams, she lets Zoey find her and guide her to Mira’s room so they can all crawl into bed together, Rumi sandwiched in the middle.
But there are some moments when she loses herself a little, when Zoey can see her teeth clench and her eyes glaze over. Moments when her breath shakes, and she presses her nails so deep into her palms that they come away bloody.
She won't talk to them when it happens.
(After the Honmoon is sealed, Rumi seeks out Celine one last time.)

The spell shattered. Mira let go of Zoey's wrist as if burned, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs. "Have a good trip, Zoey," she managed to say, her voice hoarse, avoiding eye contact. "Have fun."
Zoey lingered for another moment, her breath slightly uneven. "I... I will," she said, her voice trembling. "I'll have a lot of fun. Thanks, Mira."

Zoey goes away for a few months during the Huntrix hiatus, while Mira is alone. She is sad, insecure, misses Zoey, and jealous.

How one day it’s hardly much of anything, how the next it becomes bright and loud and too much. You know that better than anyone. You’ve read thousands of iterations of it, thousands of admissions, thousands of hastily scrawled out pleas to understand that you must understand, I could have never seen this coming.
You consider love, hate, indifference. You turn over words in your mind until they sound wrong and removed. You do this with love until you can stand to hear it echoed in your own thoughts.

She had been so normal for the past few days. And Mira and Zoey hadn’t freaked out about her being a half-demon—not after the Idol Awards incident, at least. Which was promising!
Sure, she had accidentally snuck up on Zoey with her too-light footsteps yesterday, making her spill chips all over the couch. And then Zoey got really quiet and just stared at her for an uncomfortably long moment after Rumi flashed her a sympathetic smile. Which was odd.
Sure, Mira had been looking at Rumi’s hands a lot, like she was expecting to see claws again, but Rumi tried to not let that get to her head!

Bobby held up a picture of Zoey and Mira, rarely candid as they allowed themselves to be in public. Rumi could even recognise the bench they were sitting on. Zoey was showing Mira something on her phone—probably one of her weird cat memes—and Mira had her head thrown back, her mouth open in that unflattering laugh she only let out when she was truly amused. Bobby swiped through to another photo, and Mira was still laughing. But Zoey had stopped looking at her phone screen, and was instead gazing at Mira with a soft smile on her face, expression completely besotted.
Something about the sight made a lump gather at the back of Rumi's throat.
When a photo of Zoey and Mira goes viral and the idea of them as a couple becomes more popular than ever, Bobby suggests they fake-date to keep Huntrix ratings up. Rumi doesn't expect to have as many emotions about it as she does.

"There you are," Zoey's smile glows even in the dim. "We thought you’d disappeared again."
Mira follows, picking burrs from the hem of her wedding dress, "Rumi, you can’t just vanish into thin air. It confuses the newlyweds."
Rumi smiles, a soft ache lingers behind her ribs, that of an old friend.
"I figured you two might want a moment alone."
Zoey plops down beside her, head landing against Rumi’s shoulder, "We’ve had plenty of moments today. None of them included you properly."
Mira sits on Rumi’s other side, slipping her hand into hers, with an easy, "We missed you."
And Rumi wants to pull them into her arms. Wants to merge their skin, their bodies into hers and never be apart, never having to make a single hard choice again. She wants so many impossible things with the only two women she ever loved— But can never have. Not now.
Not after the wedding she helped plan.—
OR, Rumi spends Mira and Zoey’s perfect hillside wedding quietly breaking apart. She’s planned every detail, loved every moment— Just not in the way she wishes she could.
