There’s a phenomenon at sea that occurs right before the weather turns bad where the air goes eerily still. Out of the corner of his eye, he watches Shoko adjust herself to accept Utahime into her embrace, stubbing out her cigarette on the rock and bracing herself for impact. There’s something simmering between them, roiling to a boil over the past few months. The sight of Utahime tucking her face into Shoko’s neck makes Suguru hot, makes him focus straight ahead on Gakuganji scratching the tip of his nose in the distance.
