Summary
The mission fails. Time breaks.
A mission gone wrong sends Soap back in time—into a body that hasn’t earned its scars yet. He comes back far too young to carry the weight of the life he’s already lived, stubborn enough to resent every second of it, and with his memories scattered years behind him. Task Force 141 is left holding the pieces of a person who no longer remembers earning them. As time rewinds and Soap grows up again, 141 becomes something between a unit and a family. Through every stage, through scraped knees, half-remembered instincts, comes the slow realization that some bonds survive time itself.

Raleigh shifted next to her, his hands on his hips as he bit his lip. He sucked his teeth, “Um…yeah. How did you get in this mess again?”
The baby gave a little gurgle in her carrier. “I might have just been agreeing to get the conversation over with…” Mako let the silence carry.
The blonde pilot hummed, and the two of them continued to stare.
The little girl smiled at them, gummy and drooling as she played with her sock-covered foot. Mako unbuckled her, grumbling at the many latches containing the child, and picked her up. She held her out, stiff-armed, as she had never been around many babies before. Never actually. She was much better with....older individuals.
“Raleigh,” she paused, “What do we do with a baby?”

Steve and Danny were new to her, but at the same time, men cut from the same cloth as she was. It was just there, a screeching tea kettle explosion that wouldn’t go away. It felt like his brain was going to melt out of his skull. Rocky makes a gesture I usually interpret as "not exactly". "Not sick," he says. "But doctors still worry. When Eridian start to make fewer eggs, this usually means laying period of life is over soon. Rocky very young for this. Rocky supposed to be in ideal time of life for laying. Rocky younger than Adrian, even." He shifts on three of his feet. Already, my mind is racing ahead, wondering -- "Doctors told Rocky to ask Grace, is this radiation side effect, question?"
