Summary
Two months, Bruce understands, although not too long, is still long enough for the novelty to have worn off a bit. They've become close. Closer than Bruce anticipated but not quite still. The thing is, Bruce can tell for Jason, he's not quite reliable just yet. He has not become the adult that can be trusted and Bruce can feel him try. Feel the way Jason sometimes lights up around him then quickly retreats like pulling his defenses back up. Bruce tries not to take it to heart. It affects him regardless. Jason tests him, as if knowing at his core, he doesn't belong. Waiting for the shoe to drop, the inevitable betrayal, for Bruce to reveal his true colours.

Trust acquires a new meaning, an unexpected level of it's own which tests Bruce and Jason's budding relationship when an argument spirals out of control and Bruce has to bring an end to it. The only way how is to put Jason in a safety hold so he doesn't hurt himself. A protocol is established, a promise reiterated.

When Jason woke up buried under rubble, he already knew it was going to be a bad day. And with the hole in his stomach, bullet wounds in his chest, and concrete slabs pinning his legs down, he bitterly accepted his fate.
He always knew he was on borrowed time and just like last time, he was going to die alone.
There was a time when someone would’ve tried to save him. There was a time when he was loved.
But he burned those bridges a long time ago and now, there was no one around to care that he was taking his last breath.
After all, he used up all of Robin’s magic the first time and there were no more miracles left for him.

Summary
When the Red Hood took the East End, Gloria did what she always did. She took stock of her girls. She told them the rules might change and to keep their heads down until she knew what the new rules were. She skimmed a little less from the take, in case the new boss audited. She wore something professional to the first meeting - first impressions mattered - and nothing revealing, because she'd learned that lesson under Kowalski and still had the scar from unlearning it.
Gloria has survived six bosses in fifteen years. The seventh one asks her opinion.
