  3. Marriage of State by

    Summary

    An Empires SMP Season One AU that takes the canon timeline, reorganizes it, changes some things, and stretches it out over a few centuries.
    There are three major arcs, which will all be indicated in the titles of the fics in them, as well as some standalone character backstory one-shots. The arcs are, in chronological order:

    In the Hall of the Ocean Queen: Lizzie and Joel centric, with incidental Pixlriffs and eventual Jimmy

    In the Age of Icons: The "canon" era as far as overall timeline and the cast of characters involved. "Flower Husbands Arranged Marriage" is a framing device for the majority of the plot for the AU as a whole.

    Into Ash: After the Main Plot is wrapped up. Main storyline focused on Katherine and Shrub, with appearances from everyone and some more shenanigans as they all recover and regroup.

    In a world where HYDRA was wiped out in the '40s, Steve is found by the Army rather than SHIELD. General Thaddeus Ross wants a perfectly obedient super-soldier at his command, and to that end, he sets out to break Steve to his will. As Steve struggles to come to terms with all he has lost, his life in captivity is only made bearable by the presence of another prisoner-- another super-soldier known only as "Soldat".
    Then the Avengers strike a deal with Ross to "borrow" him for missions, and Steve is faced with a team who dislikes him, an organization he doesn't trust, and the question of what he's willing to do to escape Ross's clutches.

    Alfred’s indiscrete smirk grows, and he begins clearing away the dish Dick left behind. “No, I believe that is simply Master Dick showing affection.” He glances at Bruce from the side as he turns towards the sink. “Families share kisses in America as well, especially when children are young. Your mother was particularly fond of giving your young self kisses on the forehead.”

    Bruce braces a hand on the counter, slumping into it. “Family,” he echoes in a whisper.
