Summary
All the lights are off in town and he's got nowhere to go. He doesn't even know where he is for crying out loud! He doesn't know the date or anything that could be helpful in the slightest! It doesn't help that his glasses are cracked and he can't see that well.
He wants this all to be over.
As he walks around the unknown town, he spots some stairs and there is a sign that seems to be in English but it's broken and cracked down the middle. De Nes. "Deh-knees? Anime... Denny's ?"
He pinches the bridge of his nose and thinks that he's an idiot but then he focuses and realizes he can hear noise from it. Noise equals people, people equals warmth, and warmth is what he needs right now.Update: 04/23/26
Alright. Just so y'all know, there will be a one to two broken images in each chapter and they'll just say image space. It's not that they're actually broken they're just holding space for where I want to commission the artists I'm working with to do the art for this fic.

You don't remember the last time you were in a car with your father being the one behind the wheel. Come to think of it, you don't think you have ever been in a car with your father behind the wheel. It was always the family driver, your new friends from school, the bus driver, or your Aunt June.
Never your father.
All that being said, you are happy he is the one driving you home. You don't think you could handle having this conversation with your mother and you think you'll push it off for as long as you can, even if that means her thinking you're still attending school and not dropping out to live with your father in his apartment that surely has no room for you in it.
Even the largest of buildings with the most rooms possible in it wouldn't have enough room for you in it. You learned that early on in life. -

He can see how this place builds that kind of creativity in the mind. Not that he ever believed in any of that bullshit. That is...until he meets a certain someone that lives in the ocean that likes to visit the docks by the house and John begins to grow fond of them.
