Summary
Sylvia was supposed to be a martial arts super-star. Then, a horrific car crash ruined her career and her life. Disabled and saddled with debilitating pain, her body no longer matches the will and fire inside her. Her boyfriend Greg, a Marine veteran with a lot of damage and even more baggage, is worse than useless and often controlling and abusive. When his penchant for violence gets them both swept away to a distant planet, he doesn’t hesitate before leaving her for dead.
While the adrenaline helps Greg push through his own pain to meet the harsh environment, Sylvia is left incapacitated by her pain and lies sobbing on the foreign forest floor before she is found by one of the alien tracking hounds. Instead of being mauled by it, she is surprised when it runs off. She is soon confronted by a humanoid—but clearly alien—creature, who parrots back human words at her before offering her relief from her pain and taking her back to the ship he shares with his two brothers.
