Carlos turned to face him again and sucked in a breath. His face was too damn close to Jannik’s. All he had to do was lean in a little and their lips would touch. It made Carlos burn. He didn’t know what Jannik was thinking but the older man was equally staring at his lips, saying nothing. Silence stretched as they continued to appraise each other.
Carlos wanted to close the distance. He wanted to so badly. He needed to know. He was dying to. It felt like hypnosis, this pull, like a strong tidal wave you were helpless against. But as magnificent as the seas were, they were also deadly. Drowning in their depths was far easier than surviving the currents.
“Jannik, everyone knows there’s nothing you can’t do,” Carlos finally breathed into the space between them. “Of course, you’re perfect.”
Jannik’s hand came up to his face and gently held his jaw. Carlos’s heart stopped beating for a second. “When will you understand, Carlos?” Jannik said, gaze intense. “That nobody… absolutely nobody, holds a candle to you?”

He’s watched enough videos of him. Watches the way his presence breathes life into a place, sees how photographers flock to him, how women fawn when he breezes past them. Jude has spent several hours watching his sharp profile, his proud nose, those eyes that seem like they could penetrate a soul and pull out whatever its hiding out into the light.

The first half break was much needed as Kylian and the others could get some rest and recharge a bit. His gaze traveled around the locker room. He spotted Vini and Rodrygo deep in conversation, speaking rapid fire Portuguese that went over his head. Somehow, when his gaze landed on Jude, he couldn’t seem to look away. The younger man was shirtless, sitting with his legs spread, dabbing away at the sweat on his forehead, eyes closed as though deep in contemplation. Kylian took in the flawless complexion of his skin, his muscled chest and arms, dusky brown nipples and well-formed thighs. He swallowed hard, and continued to stare at him for a few more seconds before looking away, scared that someone might catch him staring. He shook his head as though to clear it, and tried to tune in on the general conversation that was now happening in Spanish.
