Another shot goes off.
"You can tell me what's really bothering you," Vi says.
The grass between her fingers is wet and sticky as she waits for a response.
The third shot barely grazes the target.

She walked towards the ladder, “It’s her blood that runs through your veins.”
Vi reached out in a rage and grabbed her wrist to keep her from leaving, “Then why are you the one acting like her?”
Caitlyn remained silent as she faced away from Vi. Ragged breaths escaping her lips.
Vi wished she would turn around and face her. Let her see what feelings were roaming beneath the surface.
Instead, she said icily, “Let’s go.”

She is well aware that she is being difficult.
It would not be the first time someone has described her as that in more polite words, nor, Caitlyn suspects, will it be the last time someone does so. She is not trying to be difficult on purpose—there is rather no point in that and she has no desire to add to the stresses that those around her are already suffering. If anything, she'd much rather they cease this ridiculous babying and let her do things that will help.
She's healing, yes, but she's not incapacitated. She's wounded, yes, but she's not immobile. She has two good hands, half of a good leg, a good eye, and a brain that is gnawing desperately at the bars of its enclosure, rattling against the inside of her skull. She can't sit still, she finds it so difficult to hold her tongue and stars above, she's trying.
She really is.
Caitlyn shoots again.

Her throat was like sandpaper from the rapid fire of swallows, desperately trying to keep the feeling at bay. She tried to relax her shoulders; her defences were driven back, retreating further up the hillside. I can't do this. Please. I can't do it. I'm not ready. She begged in incoherent mumbles to the universe, willing the sensations to subside. Her stomach just bubbled more intensely, fraught and chaotic. She welded her eyes tightly shut.

The bunny leans on a picture frame now and Vi recognizes the photo within. It’s of herself and Caitlyn during her last birthday. Roughly two years after she was broken out of Stillwater. Caitlyn would never let her end up back there. So then why—
A soft hand cups her cheek and brings her attention forward again. As reality fades back in completely, she finds Caitlyn in front of her. The eye not covered by her eyepatch has turned bloodshot and her neck is squeezed between Vi’s fingers. Vi releases her immediately and scrambles backwards.
“No. No no no no no,” she breathes.
