Fish. Minho loves to fish. But he never keeps them, always reeling them in and throwing them back out to the lake.
“They’ll live happier lives without me interrupting it,” he told Jisung when he accompanied him once, watching the sun cradle him in its palms as he casted his line. Minho liked to tell Jisung he was the sun, but Jisung always thought Minho shined just as bright. Not the moon, but a star.
“My life is much happier for your interruptions,” Jisung smiled, and shielded his eyes. In the light, Minho was less of a full shape and more of just a silhouette, but it didn’t matter, Jisung could place all his features blind.
“That’s the difference between you and fish, Sung,” Minho laughed.
Minho reeled in a fish and sent it back out almost immediately. Jisung never thought he’d do the same to him.
Maybe he wasn’t so different from the fish after all.
(OR: Minho broke up with Jisung eight months ago. A series of unfortunate (and some fortunate) events bring them back together.)

”Look,” Minho sighs eventually. “I can’t say I’d recommend this in any circumstances, so don’t learn anything from this and start going with strangers even when they offer, okay? But if you really have nowhere else to go, I have a couch you can sleep the night on until you figure out what to do in the morning. If you're interested,” he hears himself offering before the true meaning of his offer has time to cooperate with his consciousness yet.
The boy sniffles again, his eyes still keenly on the dark streets as some cars pass by.
He finally looks up at Minho, almost as if to assess what kind of person Minho is – a total creep or someone who looks even distantly trustworthy – as he deliberates the offer.
Minho realizes how big and dark the boy’s doe eyes are. They're framed with puffy red cheeks and long, wet eyelashes all stuck together. Despite that, Minho swears all the lost stars of the night sky seem to have fallen into the boy’s eyes.
