The ticking of the grandfather clock in Masacrik’s laboratory did not sound like time passing. To someone else, it would have been an annoying repeating, rhythmic drag. To Masacrik, it was a metronome that conducted his murderous activities and kept him in pace with whatever he was doing.
He spun on the heel of his shoe, his white coat flaring out behind him like the wings of an angel, one of which he would never be. He adjusted his hair, tilting it to catch the flickering green glow of his monitors. He would consider himself a lovely, striking man who a woman could not resist.
