For a moment, she considers lighting another cigarette, staying out a bit longer. But the exhaustion hangs heavy in addition to whatever this other feeling is, so she quietly—numbly—collects her ashtray and phone before retreating inside the apartment. It’s only after the balcony door has been slid shut and locked does she allow herself to release the breath she’s been holding.

And another great Reichu story; if you already took a look at Crying Man, reading this should be a no-brainer. If you didn't: This is a stand-alone sequel to Crying Man; so while reading Crying Man will certainly give you a lot of background info and will make you understand a lot of references, it isn't required. The same I said about Crying Man in my other bookmark also goes for this story; whether you're an aspiring writer like myself or simply seek to read something that falls out of the norm of FanFiction a little, there's something in it for almost everybody. Give this one a look! I certainly didn't regret it one bit!

    Crying Man / 泣いてる男(ヒト)

Dr. Akira Katsuragi is a brilliant, but sensitive to a fault, man who for years has evaded his emotional obligations to his wife and daughter, escaping into the controversial physics research that has maintained an obsessive hold on his mind. After a decade of grueling work, he has finally published his magnum opus, a massive paper forwarding the Super Solenoid Theory, a potential final solution to humanity's energy crisis. Despite a frustrating initial reception, financial backers eventually emerge, forcing Akira to take a stand on where his priorities truly lie.

While this story is based on the world and characters of the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, previous knowledge is not required for understanding or enjoyment.

Incredibly gripping, visceral writing that drags you into the heads of the characters and really makes you feel like them. In my eyes the best thing that came out of the Eva FanFiction community on the merits of it's writing alone. That's before you get into the incredibly detailed and thoroughly thought through story, where even the secondary characters are completely formed people, with their own (hinted at) backstories and agendas, and ... yeah, I better stop gushing now. I realize the topics and themes might not be to everybodies taste, and I certainly *didn't* expect to like this, looking at the tags, but I was so thoroughly proven wrong that I'm left wondering how many great stories I ignored because I didn't give them the benefit of the doubt. To anybody reading this: check out this story. I'm not one to give praise easily, and while I realise that it's awefully presumptious to assume that that means anything (as if I was the sole arbiter of good taste), I stand by my assessment that in this case, the praise is really deserved, even if it seems over the top. The only flaw of this story is that it isn't completed - yet!
