Summary
Years before Lord Eddard Stark hosted King Rhaegar at Winterfell, before the tournament for Queen Lyanna's nameday, before Princess Daenerys debuted her dragons, he was simply Ned.
Ned Stark is the second son of Rickard Stark, foster-brother of Robert Baratheon, and the maybe-future Master-at-Arms at Winterfell. Lord Whent is throwing a tourney at Harrenhal for his daughter's nameday, a tourney that promises to be the greatest in living memory. Ned doesn't aim to compete. Ned doesn't even aim to dance. He merely wishes to quietly enjoy the festivities. But on the very first day, fate crosses his path with Ashara Dayne's. At the same time, his sister has met the eyes of the crown Prince. Their lives will never be the same.
