Summary
Jonathan Joestar has been brutally killed by Dio Brando. Jon grinds his teeth. That’s it. That’s all. He grinds his teeth, and he clenches his jaw, and sometimes, when he calls Tim into his office to ask him something, he’ll prop an elbow against his desk and lean to the side and dig his fingers into one of his temples and rub little circles there. Slowly, like he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it, and with a faint crease between his eyebrows. Tim’s libido, finally back to its pre-escitalopram levels, apparently finds this very interesting. Something about all that wound-up tension, maybe. Or the fact that, if Tim were a braver and stupider man, he could lean across Jon’s desk, cup his face, pull him forward, just a bit, and then gently, gently, work all that stress out of him with his tongue. Leave him with his eyes half-shut, lips parted, and watch as he sank down in that stupid high-backed chair all boneless and soft, breathing evenly for what’s probably the first time in weeks. Relaxed. Maybe up for getting blown.
Jon's mouth hurts, and Tim can't keep his shut.

“Mine too.” Tim returned, shoulders falling. He couldn’t keep it up forever. The hatred was exhausting, but it was necessary. But not right now. Just for now. A defeated chuckle escaped him, as he turned around to face the shorter man. “A bit of a shithole, isn’t it?”
“It.. it works. We’re just- It’s close enough to the museum, and makes for easier transport, and-“
“We need to talk.”
“What?”

So Tim isn’t surprised when he walks into Jon’s bedroom to see Jon sat atop his bed, hair tied up into an approximation of a bun and an array of papers spread out before him in a kaleidoscope of white and black. Nor is he surprised to see the cigarette held between Jon’s fingers, burning faintly orange in the low light.

At first, he thinks it’s the radio. It’s not uncommon for these stores to play classical music, trying to add an air of sophistication in what’s otherwise a dark room of dusty knicknacks. But when he walks towards the noise, he instead finds Jon sitting at the bench of an old wooden upright, his posture straighter than Tim’s ever seen it, hands moving slowly but deftly across the keys as he leans into each note.
Jon plays the piano and Tim appreciates.

Tim had decided, the first time he’d seen Jon pull a lockpick set out of his pocket and pick a lock in less than a minute, that he did, in fact, have a bit of a predilection toward delinquency. Particularly when said delinquent dressed like a college professor and used words like ‘ostentatious’ and ‘salient.’
The being a little bit in love with him bit had come later. But it wasn’t like Tim hadn’t seen it coming.

Tim jolts awake in Jon’s arms, chest heaving as he struggles to catch his breath. Jon is already awake, light sleeper that he is, and he tightens his grip around Tim with one arm, and with the other gently starts stroking Tim’s back. After a moment, Tim’s breathing slows and he opens his eyes to look at Jon. There’s no point in asking if it was a nightmare; they both know it was. It’s routine for them.
“Worms?” Jon asks instead.

Tim hears a sniff—small, choked, like it’s meant to be hidden but has slipped out anyway—and he turns to see Jon staring at him, wiping the back of his hand hastily across his eyes and making a poor show of pretending like he isn’t moments from crying.
“Christ,” Tim says, and then he’s across the room and standing by the side of Jon’s hospital bed. He looks down at Jon—at the single IV in the back of his hand, his body otherwise unencumbered by tubes and wires and all the other things that have been hooked to him for six months. Then, before he can talk himself out of it, he reaches down and wraps his arms around Jon.
