Stanley and The Narrator are now living outside the parable. After spending so much time in a place that doesn’t exactly follow typical real-world conventions, Stanley is forced to relearn not only how to be a functioning member of society, but also a plain, regular human.
With The Narrator beside him, Stanley knows he can overcome the hard luck and depression that plagued him in his life before the parable, but introducing The Narrator to the rules and expectations of human society comes with its own challenges.
How did this even happen, anyway?…

Basially Stanley is being to scared to say "I love you for the first time" but one time he does, and the Narrator deosn't know the sign
So Stanley doesn't tell him. The Narrator still finds out though -
