But then Eddie saw a whole pile of kids get in Harrington’s car, and he overheard Nancy Wheeler say that “Steve was babysitting,” and that image didn’t even remotely align with anything Eddie knew about King Steve “The Hair” Harrington, but he figured he didn’t know much, anyway, and it wasn’t any of his business, when it came down to it.
Eddie thought so little of it, in fact, that he had almost forgotten that Max had apparently been babysat by one Steve Harrington. That is, until Steve Harrington started showing up at the trailer park, picking up Max and driving away, and then Eddie wouldn’t see Max at home again for days on end.
Eddie didn’t know much about babysitting, but he was pretty sure the gigs were more of an hourly thing.

“Good evening, folks!” He screamed, laughing wildly into the mic. The crowd screamed back, going crazy for him and his band. You felt as the sea of bodies around you started jumping in unison, but all you could do was freeze where you stood, eyes still latched on Eddie’s as you waited for him to pull your strings like you were a marionette. He had you in the palm of his hand and he knew it, too, judging by the confident smirk on his face. You could see it even through the curtain his hair tended to create around him.
You watched as he introduced himself and his band, and then they started to play and the energy between the two of you seemed to skyrocket. You couldn’t even remember why it had taken you so long to see him, could no longer think of silly complaints to tell him later about the venue or whatever, you could only think of Eddie and the way he looks on the stage. He looks like he belongs there. Like he was born to play a stage in front of adoring people.

The words died in his throat along with the shatter of the mug against the floor. But Eddie barely noticed he dropped it, his mouth slightly agape as he stared at Buck, took in the bruises, and the blood, and general brokenness of the man before him.

Or: After the Lawsuit, Buck is starting to think his team will never forgive him and is feeling lonelier than ever, when his dad shows up, looking for money that Buck doesn't have. Now, his ribs are broken and his face has been pummelled into one big bruise. All he wants to do is retreat to his empty apartment and wallow in his own self-pity, but before that he needs to get his keys, which he'd left at the station the previous night.
Everyone else is on shift, so he's hoping he can sneak into the locker room and be gone before anyone notices he was there, but this is Buck, so of course, nothing goes to plan.

The man was bound, but the intricacy by which he was tied up was like nothing Eddie had seen before. It wasn’t just his wrists, but his arms were secured behind him, attaching him to the frame of the bed by something Eddie couldn’t quite see from where he stood.
It wasn’t a rushed job, from the little that Eddie could tell was going on. This was precise work—secure and firm in its structures. Their victim was completely bound. Immobile.
Something far back in his mind—shaped vaguely like a door, cracked open just enough to make Eddie suck in a breath and slam it back shut.
