There are a lot of people who have called Charles a masochist for sticking with Ferrari through thick and thin, when very few drivers would be willing to put up with the heartache. There are a lot of people who struggle to understand his resilience when there are so many teams that would fight tooth and nail to have him.
But the love and dedication he has for his team, nurtured since he was a child, fuel him and burn strong enough to make him stay and dream.
Maybe that’s the reason he can’t let Max Verstappen go either.
Or: Charles navigates through a difficult F1 season. In the middle of it all, he finds Max. Because Max is always there.

Summary
The moment Calum passes the threshold, Luke’s looking up. His cheeks suddenly get sharp, the magic he possesses shining on his face like glitter, sparkling in the light. Magic recognizes magic, and Luke glares when the familiar spark of Calum’s shapeshifter energy enters the shop.
“What are you doing here?” Luke asks, voice biting as Calum leisurely strolls towards him. “Are my healing stones not enough for you, ‘shifter? You back to steal some more?”
He’s supposed to be angry, and when people are angry at Calum, they look cruel and ugly and scary, but Luke’s never anything but ethereal; especially with all of the magic glimmering on his angular cheeks. Calum drops the bags of stones at his feet, pecking the leather of his boot with his beak and turning to walk out.

Luke often wonders if Ashton has the same problem he has, if being in the mere presence of Luke is enough to render him silent. If the way he laughs or the way the light hits his eyes just right is something of modern art for him. Luke wonders if Ashton is ever awestruck by Luke, if his work during the day lacks finesse because his mind is too preoccupied thinking of the other, images of him wrapped in a juniper glow, his skin bathing in sunlight - a perfect picture no other human could ever emulate.
Or maybe that’s just Luke.

Summary
Michael feels the blood dripping off his hands as he falls to the ground, his hands shaking as he forces the knife further into the walker’s head. He pulls it out and finds himself crying as he stabs it again and again, his tears dripping onto the red mess of a body on the ground.
He reminds himself again that it’s just a corpse now, a shell of what it used to contain and he can’t recognise the face anymore, it’s mangled by the blade of Michael’s knife and he’s thankful he doesn’t have to look at what’s left of Calum after he turned as he gets up and walks away.

"Actually, that's not entirely true. I had to do a skin graft on a 15 year old girl called Kraken or something." Dr Frangipane plonks herself on Williams's lap. "At least that's how it was spelt. I was corrected by a slightly rabid mother, of course. It was some variation of Catherine, apparently. Poor girl. Martinez says some woman coming in for breast augmentation the other day spelt it K-H-A-T-H-E-Y-R-I-N-E. Fucking weird." She too, makes grabby hands for Williams's tea, though she doesn't spit hers back in there. Michael doesn’t want to be the one to tell her she's essentially swallowing Gerard's backwash. Apparently, nobody does.
Sometimes Michael wishes Calum, his housemate and best friend could be here for this shit while it happens at work, not just when they go out for drinks. The setting makes their lack of professionalism all the more comical.
Or, it's mid-February, so all of the nut-jobs who stuck fireworks up their arses have mostly been discharged, and Michael's bored. Also, Ashton's a receptionist, Luke know exactly where to stick his pen, and Calum DOES THAT FOR A FUCKING LIVING.
