Summary
Lando is a hopeless romantic with no luck in love. Maybe because he searches for it in all the wrong places. Or maybe because he isn't worthy of anything better.
Lando sighs, as he shifts in his seat. It is easy to hate and degrade when a person is just bad. When their soul is as black as the night, when they would be the villains in superhero movies that hurt people for their own profit.
"I... I am not making excuses for him."
But what about the dogs who bark as if a simple touch would burn their fur, the cats who hiss when a human gets too close?
"It's not his fault that he is grieving."
"Who gives a fuck?" Max crosses his arms on his chest. "At one point, it stops mattering what the circumstances are, and the important thing is the result."
Lando bites his lip, avoiding the latter's eye contact.

Marco grimaces.
“Coconut water tastes like it’s been in someone else’s mouth,” he shakes his head. And – oh boy. Jorge laughs. Hard, open-mouthed, genuine. Marco’s face catches on fire the moment he pulls him in a sort of tight hug, a display of camaraderie for sure, but it feels like there’s something more to it, something sizzling, bubbling, trapped right under the surface. Jorge’s right arm around his shoulders. His left hand instinctively flying to Marco’s chest to pat him – Marco wonders if it’s possible to feel someone’s heartbeat under a hoodie, then he decides not to obsess too much over it. Overthinkers will overthink, yadda yadda.
Still.
He’s not imagining it, the subtle hum of static energy between them. He’s drunk, of course, but not drunk enough to hallucinate something that isn’t there.

Jorge is…shameless, the way only his compatriots are. Unhinged, always toying on the fine line between innocent camaraderie and blatant flirting. He helps Marco to his feet only to shove him behind a flimsy aluminum partition and kiss him, wet and sloppy, almost ripping a shocked moan out of him, his calloused hand clamped on the back of his head while Marco kisses the taste of sambuca from his lewd mouth. He never liked sambuca too much, but he could consider the idea of giving it a chance if he could always drink it directly from Jorge’s tongue.
