When Erend finds a final note from Ersa requesting he retrieve an item long since buried to return to Avad, he wastes no time in gearing up to find it. But before he gets the chance to head out, Aloy shows up and offers to go with him. With their equipment and weapons packed, they journey to No Man's Land where they will recover Ersa's item and where they will also uncover the truth about their feelings for each other.

Erend held the note so tightly that the parchment began to crumple under his grip. He could feel the pressure building in his face and it swelled to his eyes. Ersa was certainly a no-nonsense type of woman, and he knew it was because she had run out of tears long before she was old enough to hold a weapon. Their drunkard father never gave her a choice.He was jolted from his thoughts and whatever tears were about to form disappeared at the sound of a gentle knock in the doorway and a voice–her voice.
“Erend Vangaurdsman…not at the pub at this hour?”

It had felt like an eternity. Not the kind of eternity that burned slow like the embers of a forge being stoked, and pushed, and bellowed with great love and care. No, it was the kind of eternity that seemed like a punishment for asking for a sliver of happiness amongst the decay of the world.
