Summary
Because — God.
Because Ash had stood up now, full height, and he was — okay. He was that. Broad through the shoulders in the way that the cut-off flannel did absolutely nothing to hide. Tall. The kind of easy physical confidence that didn't come from trying, that was just the way a person inhabited their body when they'd never had any reason to make themselves smaller. And the face — the stubble, the light eyes still coming fully online, the mouth that was already pulling toward something that wasn't quite a smile — was exactly the kind of face that Dean's brain, in its most unguarded moments, went toward like water finding a drain.
Don't.
The voice was fast. It was always fast. Twenty-two years of practice had made it reflex — it just showed up and said, "Don't," and Dean said, "I know," and the door stayed closed.Series

Summary
A man. Tall, broad-shouldered, standing at the foot of a headstone with flowers in his hand. He knelt, brushed the leaves away from the marker, and laid the flowers at the base. He was dressed in a dark coat, slightly worn at the elbows. He had dark hair that fell past his shoulders and a worn gambler's hat. And a face that was—GraveRobber's brain supplied the assessment automatically: handsome. Genuinely, disarmingly beautiful. He had a gote and sad eyes. He stood about 6ft 6” from what he could tell.
He stood when he saw GraveRobber looking.
"Sorry," the man apologized. His voice was calm and persuasive. "Didn't think anyone else would be here."
"It's fine, I mean, I can't tell you not to be," GraveRobber said.
The man smiled at that. It was a good smile — quiet, reaching his eyes without making a production of it, the kind of smile that arrived like it had been waiting patiently for the right moment rather than being deployed for effect. "Right," he said. "Of course not."

Summary
"I'm improving," she said. "There's a difference."
"Is there."
The surgeries keep coming. So does she. The pattern is simple — surgery, recovery, Zydrate, his room, his hands, his collar, repeat — and GraveRobber has filed it under things he understands and things he doesn't examine too closely.
Then he says something true.
She doesn't forgive him for it.Series
