One foot looked normal, while the other was purply-pink and slightly see-through. It was the right shape, and it moved with him as he thought about curling the toes and then flexing them, but he could clearly see through it, too. As he looked at it, it filled in and became as solid-looking as his other foot.
Okay. So that was new.

Duke wasn't close to his extended family.
Not for a lack of desire, no, but more so because of distance. It was hard to visit his cousins' house when they lived halfway across the country. With his parents institutionalized, Duke assumed that he'd lose contact with most of his extended family. After all, his mom had been in charge of keeping up with the cousins. He doubted they even knew his phone number.
Imagine his surprise when he gets a call from his cousin, one Tucker Foley, asking for help.

[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
