A part of my series where, instead of Focalors, it was Furina who disappeared due to some unknown reason. Now everyone is left to pick up the pieces of grief that had shattered.

The Akasha Terminal was fascinating.
Endless possibilities opened up before her very eyes after Arlecchino planted a terminal on Furina. Nightmares. Induced fears. Phobias. Intrusive thoughts. Mind reading. All at her fingertips. She could do whatever she wished to the poor girl. After Il Dottore let her into the system, anything was possible.
But after discovering a secret she shouldn't have, she finds that maybe her hate for Furina is a little... unjustified. Plus, the Doctor's on her back now-- an unfortunate turn of events for all those involved.

Furina could hardly not make the connection with her own story. Which made the words all the more difficult to pronounce.
« If you become human, you can reveal your secret to no one. You will face suffering and loneliness. Is this truly what you want ? »
No. She never wanted to suffer like this. But what choice did she have? She couldn't let the people of Fontaine disappear into the floods. She endured this suffering for five hundred years at the cost of her identity.
An identity that she wasn't sure she would ever find again.

Summary:
Focalors miscalculated her sacrifice. She once thought when the time comes, she, as the divinity, will end her solo of solitude with one audience at best and bow out with a style. Her perfection and ideal, Furina, would be freed from curse and she would age as normal human and live a life of a normal humans she always hoped they were.
But when the sword of Indemnitium fell, she woke up in her mortal body. The body of Furina, mortal, fragile, emotional. Yet... no presence of Furina. Her perfection and ideal was gone.
She wished it hard it was untrue but as the seconds ticked by, she was forced to face her worst fear. She, Focalors, had taken over the mortal body.
The heartbreak of losing Furina was almost as big as the fear of facing Neuvillette once he returned to find his companion just vanished and replaced by someone else.

When Furina is in the box with the Traveler on the way to her trial, she comes close to telling the Traveler her secret. What if she had revealed the truth? Faced with the realization of what the plan will entail, Aether has to find a way forward now that he too holds the burden of this knowledge. This time, he would stand with Furina.
This story is how I wish the final part of the story had gone. This will be a two shot. It is possible I may write more for this in the future, but it wont be anytime soon.
