Now, after four years of settling into a platonic soulmate relationship, Steve leaves Hawaii to follow Catherine to Afghanistan, rushing to the aid of her old friend. Steve and Danny’s soul bond is put under pressure when the Taliban capture Steve, and both face the real possibility that Steve won’t make it out alive. If he does, it might just be time to re-evaluate their bond, and the need they have for each other.

Summary
King Steven II of Hawaii and his consort Prince Daniel have travelled to the mainland to participate in a royal summit, accompanied by their five children. Their time in Colorado is spent catching up with old friends as well as wrangling a new trade agreement with the King of Oregon, but a threat on the East Coast hangs over them. As they arrive in New Jersey for what is supposed to be a vacation, that threat intensifies: war looms between neighboring countries and Kings Steven and Edward must work together to ensure New Jersey isn't dragged into a conflict.
But are those efforts too much of a distraction from a threat closer to home?

When a case of abused omegas lands on the desk of the newly formed major crimes task force and they need an omega liaison of their own, Five-0 leader Steve McGarrett chooses Danny’s name from the pile, which brings the omega - rather reluctantly - onto the taskforce.
Similarities between the victims and Danny bring out the protector in Steve but the independent omega is determined not to let that get to him. But when things hit too close to home, Danny's world comes crashing down around him.

Wedding planning has been stressful, especially on top of running one of the busiest hotels on the Las Vegas strip.
Steve and Danny decide to go for a long weekend to Miami in an attempt to gather the McGarrett family members together to finally decide on how grand the wedding should be (and which magazine will get the exclusive rights to the photos). But neither John nor Doris show up.
Further issues arise as Danny struggles with the anxieties that have plagued him after previous trauma. To help salvage their vacation, Steve comes up with a new idea for their trip. One that will take them away to where it can be just the two of them and nothing else matters.

Before the Op in Laos, everyone needs to rest at their hotel. As Catherine and Steve talk, they hear noises next door and Catherine, too curious for her own good, wants to listen in and find out what's happening.“I am learning a lot about Danny Williams,” Catherine said. She held out the second earbud for Steve. “You know you want to. Think of it as learning something about him so that when you do finally get your chance, you can know exactly what he likes.”
Steve was wavering and she knew it. “I shouldn’t. It’s Danny. And Harry.”
“But you want to,” she reiterated. “You always want to know everything about him. And now you want to know how much of a slut he is.”
Steve groaned but took the bud and sat closer, listening in.

After some cathartic drinking, feelings are revealed and now Danny's bad year might be turning around into something good.

When soulmates meet, there's an instant connection, even if they aren't fully aware. But the universe will make its plan known and won't let you shirk the bonding process. But in modern times, there are ways to control the bond, dampen it, slow it down. It's not recommended, and it can be expensive, but some people do it. And so long as the bonding process is carefully controlled from then on, there shouldn't be any problems.
Detective Danny Williams is called to the house of a retired HPD detective one morning and saves him from terrorists. He and John McGarrett become friends, bonding over parenthood even if they are a generation apart. John invites Danny over for dinner once his son is home as thanks for saving his life. When Danny shakes hand with the Navy SEAL he meets, there's a jolt inside him that he dismisses as heartburn. But in the coming days he begins to get sick and, swear to god if Steve brought home some foreign flu, he was going to punch him in the face.
