Pawbert’s wrist vibrated loudly as the first foreboding notes of a ringtone echoed off the icy walls.
“Ugh, what now?” he moaned. “I was right in the middle of something!”
The irritated feline raised his smartwatch. “‘Incoming call?’ Huh. I didn’t know my watch could do that,” he mused curiously before checking the ID.
“Oh, it’s just my father,” he smiled. “Well, I was planning to tell him the good news in person, but you know what they say, ‘strike while the iron is hot!’”
The naive lynx excitedly pressed the accept button. “Hey Da–”
“Pawbert,” his father growled, cutting him off. “Just what do you think you’re doing!? Are you working with a fucking SNAKE!?”

Cherryton was a quiet little village set deep in the mountains, often called the edge of the world for just how remote it was. The most exciting things to happen around there were the occasional feral carnivore attack, or a traveling merchant bringing goods from far off lands.
Legoshi felt his whole life was planned out for him, he would one day take over the farm for his grandfather, marry his fellow grey wolf Juno, and have kids. No one ever left the region of the Two Rivers, and he certainly wasn't planning on being the exception. So what if sometimes he dreamed of a deer, dressed in royal garb, or occasionally felt the pull of the Wheel of Time, fate pulling him away. Those things could be ignored, just like his instincts. He could live a normal life. He was content to let the Wheel of Time turn and turn it did.
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend Fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.
