Summary
Buck has, he’s always seen Eddie as the sun. Still does. But it really makes Buck blind to when he’s struggling. Especially because Eddie has a tendency to brush it off or keep it to himself until it becomes unbearable and blows up in his face. But thankfully, he’s actually asking for help this time. Or trying to, at least.
“Hey,” he says softly, rubbing Eddie’s arms. “I got you.”
“Apparently I’m touch starved,” he says, trying for a sassy tone. But it comes out squeaky and raw.
And. Oh.
Buck’s pulling him into an embrace before his brain even finishes processing it, no intention of letting go anytime soon. Eddie sighs again, content this time. And god. Buck really is never letting him go.

If you ask anyone else, Buck and Eddie have finally figured it out and are extremely insufferable about PDA now. If you ask Buck, he's just helping his very straight best friend out. Very platonically.

No. Whatever it is, no. Eddie would like Buck to stop chasing whatever that thing is. Would like to grab the thought out of Buck’s concussed head and throw it out a window.
Buck’s face drops into something serious, eyes wide. “You called me baby.”
There it is. Out the window it did not go.
“No, I didn’t,” Eddie says.
Very smooth. Convincing.
“You did.” Buck points at him, floppy and triumphant. “At the— the thing. With the— you said it. You called me baby.”
“I didn’t say that.”
“Eddie.” Buck is delighted. “I heard you. I was concussed, not deaf.”
“I didn’t call you baby,” Eddie scoffs. “I called you a baby. Because you got a bump on the head and were crying about it.”
“That’s not—” Buck starts.
“You were being a baby,” Eddie continues, standing now, because a moving target is harder to hit. “I’m gonna go tell the others you’re awake.”
“Eddie.”
“Rest your head, bud.”

Summary
And Buck. Well, he’d gotten over Tommy dumping him pretty quickly. Because the minute he’d learnt that Eddie was an option, the dam holding all his feelings for Eddie in had burst. The feelings had filled Buck whole, drowning him. And for once, Buck didn’t mind drowning.
But they’re friends. Best friends. And Buck doesn’t want to ruin that. He’s always wanted someone to see him as home, and the chances of that someone being Eddie, they’re kind of driving him over the ledge.
He doesn’t think he can swallow his feelings, though. They’re too big, too overwhelming. But he can’t just impulsively put them out there, either, because he’s terrified of ever having to take them back.
No, no, what he needs is a plan. To make Eddie see that Buck is an option. And that’s exactly what he’s gonna do. He’s gonna woo Eddie.

Summary
Eddie isn’t dating right now. Eddie probably isn’t dating ever again, actually, given the fact that he had panic attacks over the thought of spending his life with the last woman that he dated.
So if he’s not dating - and he’s not - then it isn’t even relevant.
Until some guy flirts with Buck when they’re on a call, and Eddie briefly considers how likely he is to be acquitted of murder.

Summary
He knows that Maddie basically raised the man Eddie’s fallen in love with. He knows that every little way Buck shows up in his life, every display of love he gives to Eddie and Chris, he learned from Maddie.
He remembers what he said to Buck that day on the loft balcony, a bag of ice blocking blue eyes from his sight. That Buck had always known Maddie as his strong big sister, but she might need to be the one taken care of for once. Maybe he'd been speaking slightly from experience.
So, yeah. It doesn't matter that they've never really talked or hung out like this before. Maddie is Buck's family, which makes her Eddie's family. If what she needs is a wine night, Eddie's gonna make it the best damn wine night of her life.
"I'm in."
-
OR: Months after the shooting, Eddie and Buck dance closer and closer to confessing their feelings for each other — until Eddie agrees to wine nights with Maddie and Karen, and Buck thinks he's dating someone new.
