“And who might be asking?” His aggravation has slipped further into bafflement at such obvious flaunting of the university’s good sense dress code. Even with a fully covered stomach, to Gale’s mind, those trousers should be at least one size larger to be acceptable for their academic setting. No one with any amount of decency should be comfortable with their thighs displayed so in the hallowed institution of learning that is BGU.
With pink glossed lips setting themselves into a sneer, the dreaded response is given with ease. “Astarion Ancunìn, obviously. You are aware you had a new teaching assistant arriving today, yes?”
“Yes, of course. Though I rather thought that said teacher’s assistant would see fit to arrive before all of our students,” Gale attempts to say with any measure of good manners.

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that a darkly evil wizard must be in want of a darkly evil familiar.
For all of the creature’s offense, it stays bundled in Gale’s hair. In addition to its rapid trusting of him, its possible intelligence based on its reactions to his own words, Gale can’t shake from his mind the timing of its arrival. During his usage of magic for more nefarious aims, not before nor after.

Summary
Gale stood a few steps away, looking about at the mouth of the alleyway. Checking for witnesses, the poor little prude. “I believe we’re as alone as can be expected here.” Just a whisper, more to himself than Astarion. Gale paced forward, eyes bright in his face; he stopped an arm length away. Astarion wondered if the man wanted a bit of play, a bit of an attempt at innocence, or if he wanted Astarion to make the first move, to throw himself at his brave, strong savior.
While he pondered that, Gale spoke. “I must admit, for all my skill in the arcane, all my abilities in my field of magic, I have unfortunately always been somewhat lacking in social graces. For that reason, I’m at a loss on how to bring about this subject with any finesse.” Gale rubbed at his well trimmed beard.
Luckily, Astarion was very well versed in these particular social graces. Starting in another weak purr, “Oh, my sweet-”
“You’re a vampire spawn, correct?” Gale asked with his hands clutched behind his back.

Summary
“What's he like?” she asks. “Your wizard?”
He seems to think about it for a moment.
“Arrogant,” he finally says. “Insufferably clever. He claimed he could have been Mystra's Chosen, but he turned her down.”
The group (sans Tav) meet Astarion by the beach. They don't meet Gale. If you ask Astarion, that just means they have to look harder.

Summary
In hindsight, destroying her apartment probably hadn’t been the best method to show Mystra his love.
Cast from Mystra’s apartment after his destructive folly, Gale’s rehoming results in him joining a cat-filled household where he meets vitriolic Astarion, a rescue from the now defunct Szarr’s Splendid Pets breeders.
As their little cat hearts grow closer, Gale is forced to confront whether he was truly as bad of a cat as Mystra always told him.
