You have to resist a whole-body shudder at the thought. There’s an infinite number of things you’d rather be doing. That nausea from before is back. But somehow, an agreement crawls from your lips. “Okay.”
It’s so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
Kazuichi breaks through the tension. “Ahahahah!” he guffaws, slapping your shoulder. You flinch. “Didn’t think you had it in ya, man! You’re funny.”
“Funny,” you echo. Yes, funny. You were trying to be funny. Right? It definitely didn’t feel as if you were a passenger in your own body just then, forced to agree to something you had no desire to participate in.

Besides, the Hail Mary was in orbit around Erid, not impossible to get to, but not worth it for a nose around. Or – maybe he’d said something in his sleep, and Rocky was only just talking to him about it. That also makes no sense. Or maybe –
“You… saw.”
“Eridians see dream-memories sometimes.”
“That literally makes no sense,” blurts Ryland, and Rocky stamps his feet. The way he’d done back on the ship when something was painfully obvious and Ryland failed to get it. “Sorry. You’re gonna have to explain.”
“Eridians are linked to all Eridians. Erid is like – word need word – database. Database for all Eridians thought memories events. When Eridians sleep, they see other Eridian memories. Didn’t happen on ship because no tie to Erid. Didn’t happen on Mary because no tie to Erid. Rocky saw Grace's memories.”
