James closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He held it for a moment, before letting it slowly puff out. When he looked back down at Sirius, he looked a fraction calmer. “You ruined Remus’ life tonight.”
Sirius flinched, then. He knew he had screwed up. He knew ten minutes after sending Snape. He knew when he thought of the look that would be on Remus’ face when he found out. He knew when he had used the mirror to tell James to stop him because he had been closer. He knew, and the words still cut him up inside.
