Summary
Shane has been deeply attracted to Ilya Rozanov since he first met him at 17. Not that he would ever admit that, of course. But what happens when you end up stranded in a cabin with your rival? An avalanche at a ski resort leads to Ilya and Shane being stuck together in a cabin. What's worse, is there is only one bed. And Shane tends to be cuddly in his sleep.
Its 2011, and rather than participating in the All Stars game, the NHL sends a group of hockey players to a ski resort. Both Ilya and Shane are trying to hide the fact that they are deeply attracted to each other.

The first thing that Shane notices is that the bed underneath him had gotten considerably harder. The first night it had felt surprisingly comfortable, but now it feels like he was laying on a lumpy rock. He groans, feeling how his body ached from the uncomfortable night of sleep. At some point he had ended up on his stomach. When he opens his eyes, though, he doesn't see the bed sheets beneath him. He sees a sweater. Shane freezes, then his eyes travel upwards until they connect with a pair of blue eyes.
“Good morning,” Ilya says.

By the second period, it was clear even to fans in the farthest, cheapest seats that something unusual was taking place on the ice.
“The Centaurs haven’t looked especially in sync all season, but this is something else,” one commentator said. “Rozanov and Barrett do not look like line-mates tonight,” the other commentator agreed, disbelief in his voice.
“Seems like Rozanov’s forgotten which team he’s playing for.”

It went on like that well into the final period, until Barrett finally had enough. One more snub, one more chirp, one more empty lane Rozanov should have covered, and Troy was on him. Gloves hit the ice.

Ilya Rozanov has spent five years holding Shane Hollander at arm’s length - not because he didn’t love him, but because he loved him too much to ask him to risk everything for something that could fall apart. He was good at that: the careful distance, the walls that looked like indifference, the way he’d learned to be close without being close. He’d had a lot of practice.
What he didn’t have practice for was what came after he was done lying to himself. He didn’t have practice for this - for something warm and bright and absolutely terrifying. Something that fits in the spaces between games and cities and the distance between Boston and Raleigh. Something that makes Ilya think, for the first time in a long time, that maybe the risk is worth it.
He just needs to figure out what to do with it all before their careers swallow them whole
He doesn’t get the chance to think about it for very long.
