“It was at the hospital,” says Will somewhat defensively. “He wasn’t just going to snatch him in front of so many other people.”
As if they’ve been administered simultaneous shocks, Nancy and Mike shoot up. “The hospital?”
Dread creeps into the back of Mike’s mind.
He could open his mouth and tell them, but… He hasn’t seen Mr Whatsit, he reminds himself, there’s hardly anything to tell. The hospital had only seemed empty for a moment. He hadn’t lifted from the ground and started bleeding from his eyes.
Besides, their local expert on the hive mind seems sure it’s Derek he’s after. And when Will’s got a feeling, it’s usually right.

Will's in love with Mike. He knows not to tell anyone, so he doesn't.
