Summary
Portland, Maine. 1985.
Jackson Smith just moved to Portland after spending three years in Virginia with his foster tía and tío, and he's not all that excited. He hasn't been the new kid in years; especially not after he finally got out of the foster care system. He isn't looking forward to starting all over again, but then he meets another boy: Elijah.
Elijah is like nobody he's ever known; funny, strange, open, and more than anything, magnetic. The two become fast friends, and Elijah starts to bring out a side of Jackson that he never would've seen otherwise. As they spend more time together during and out of school, they find themselves growing closer and closer. Whether Jackson is ready to accept what they have is another story.

Summary
For a moment, Nicky wonders if Tilda actually had triplets and this was the elusive third brother, because there is no way that this was Andrew. The figure in the doorway, framed by detention officers on either side, was absolutely buzzing with energy. Fingers twitching and grabbing at the air at his sides, hazel eyes that were usually dull, scarily bright and shifty, one encased in bruising from 2 weeks ago. But the most unsettling part was the bottom half of his face, where a grin took the place of Andrew’s stoic lips.
The smile looks wrong on his face. But, Dr Kirchst, Andrew’s lawyer, and the judge all said that this was an improvement. That this Andrew was a cured one. One that was fit for society, and could come back under Nicky’s roof. All of those intelligent people couldn’t have been wrong. Perhaps Nicky just needs to adjust.

Summary
“Look, I did something stupid, and I’m better now so can we get all of these needles out of me and these sticky things off of me?”
“Sokka,” His father’s voice is hard but not rough. He talks to Sokka like he’s a kid convinced his backyard contraption can actually fly him across the world. “You attempted suicide and almost succeeded.”
“Yeah, and grass is green, and the sky is blue. Can we just go home?”
The look his father gives him almost makes him wither. He’s seen this face on his dad before but never for him. Sometimes, he’d catch the man looking at old photos- or sometimes, he’d stare at him and Katara for a bit too long. Like he was grieving.
But he can’t grieve Sokka if he’s not even fucking dead.
“Sokka…you need help. Help that I don’t think you’re going to get going home, son.”
Or Sokka attempts suicide, kisses a guy, and finds out the world is a bit crazy for everyone.
