Summary
The Legend of Zelda: Remnants of the Past is a sequel to Ocarina of Time, in the same way that Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are in their respective timelines. This story is set on the 4th Timeline, a theorized timeline in which the Hero of Time was not sent back to his childhood following the defeat of Ganon.
As the Hero of Time was not sent away, he and Zelda rebuilt Hyrule together, becoming the monarchs to lead it into a brighter future. But this is not their story only. In fact it is mainly the story of a new Link and a new Zelda who generations later grow up in a world shaped by Ocarina of Time's Link and Zelda, now known as "King and Queen of the Past". Prophesizing the return of Ganon, they left their knowledge behind for those who come after them, who end up being the Hero of Hope and the Princess of the Present.
This new Link came to be in a time that would have led to Hyrule's flood in the adult timeline. Will History repeat itself?
Before we even meet our new Link, we first find out what happened after the events of Ocarina of Time and how the fourth timeline was created. Only then, we get to meet this young teenager, who is yet to find out about his fate as the new hero.

This story takes you back to a far distant past, way before Hyrule became a Kingdom. Sonia was a young priestess with a passion for growing fruit. Rauru and his older sister had been on the land of Hyrule for quite some time and were at that point not the only of their kind. It is a story that shows an interpretation of how Sonia and Rauru became an item, which led to the creation of the Kingdom of Hyrule.
