There was a quiet more invasive than the deadly silence of the world beyond the walls protecting them and Leon hated himself for being so stupid— stupid fucking Kennedy saying shit he wasn’t supposed to say— fumbling for a way to cover up his fuck up, when Chris’s low voice broke the silence, saying, “I don’t hate you, Leon. I never have.”
“Liar,” Leon accused softly into the darkness of their warm refuge. “You’re a f-fucking liar.”

Wesker could see it all unfold behind her eyes. She’d made up their story already: an eccentric couple, some gentle dynamic, a rich older man indulging his toy boy. A butch daddy and his giggling twink.
The illusion held. It always did.

Leon was on his knees on a concrete floor, and while a hand was squeezing the back of his neck it wasn’t Piers. It was someone who was also holding him up by his hands that were bound behind his back, and upon realizing that Leon experimentally tugged on his bonds. It felt like his wrists were tied with a belt, so tight it was putting a strain on them, and slowly he flexed his fingers to make the blood flow better.
“You with me, comrade?”
Leon’s blood ran cold, and suddenly his head felt a whole lot clearer. Krauser. That fucker just did not stay dead.

Summary
Coughing and gasping for air, Leon put tremendous effort into not blacking out–both from the shit he’d sucked into his lungs and bouncing his head off the dirt when the shockwave from the blast toppled him. When he felt a pair of hands grasp him by his holster straps and pull him away from the crater the greenhouse had left behind, he pawed weakly for the knife strapped to his thigh, but then he heard a familiar voice–albeit distorted by a respirator mask:
“Hey, Leon–it’s okay. We’re here to help.”
Chris Redfield.
Golden boy of the BSAA, knight in shining armor, and Leon’s hopeless crush, which had been going on for so long now that it was old enough to get a driver’s license.
