Rumi was hiding something.
Mira wasn’t an idiot. After knowing Rumi for so long, her mannerisms became obvious. Whenever she didn’t want to address something, she slipped into her professional persona, politely declining with a uniform smile. Usually, Mira and Zoey just exchanged a glance as Rumi walked away, and only discussed what happened later with hushed voices.
Today had been different, though.

“Kara,” Clark calls out, “there’s something I need to tell you.”
Kara is already done with him in the half second it takes her to turn her face towards him. He sits down in the arm chair by the window and leans forward, hands clasped together, elbows resting on his thighs. This is his speech posture, which means he wants to Talk to her with a capital T.
“There’s a woman I’ve been seeing lately, and I think it’s serious. I mean— it’s serious to me. I truly love her. She’s—”
“Lois Lane.”
“—a journalist with me at the Planet and— Wait, what did you say?”
“It’s Lois Lane. You’re in love with Lois Lane. I mean, congrats, because you did not make her sound like she was into you, but like, why are you making it sound like it’s such a big deal?”
“That's— How do you know that?”
“Seriously, Clark? I literally don’t know the name of any of your other coworkers because you talk about her all the time. Did you not even realize that you were doing that?”
