Summary
“Your Holiness?” The voice on the other side of the door is thin and subservient. “Your breakfast is served.”
A muffled clank of a metal tray being set down, the slick trill of crystal glasses rubbing against each other with the movement. A rustle of cloth and the slowly fading sound of steps. Then, silence.
After a while, from the cracked open window, the slowly growing layered harmony of the roman churches’ bells tolling Angelus starts to singVincent lays in the bed, unmoving.

Summary
Clutching the handkerchief tightly, Bellini takes in a labored breath. After a moment he starts to speak again, the words falling from his lips like water cascading down the basement stairs during a flood, unstoppable and unheading of the destruction it leaves in its wake as it gallops down, down, down into the darkness.
“He propositioned me. I accepted.” Janusz blinks. What?
“What?”
“He said that if I was truly sorry, I could show it with my actions, not my words. When I asked what he meant, eager to-to atone, to please him, he… he-“ Bellini’s voice breaks again, and there is more of the shaking, the sobbing and apologizing.
Janusz probably should feel something upon seeing so much distress before him, but his heart is empty, in his mind only one thought, spinning in circles like dervishes dancing sama, hoping that with the next turn the truth, the God, the realization won’t come.
“What did you do, Bellini?” The man sobs once, then heaves, and the words come pouring out of him.

Summary
He couldn’t do this. It was too much. Aldo stumbled back until he hit the wall and then ever so slowly sank to the ground. Let that spry young thing help him back up! Let him take his dignity, like he took everything else! Aldo knew that he was being uncharitable, and vapid, and stupid, and all the things that he tried so hard to pretend he was not; but in that moment he didn’t care. It was late; he had only a few hours before he had to be asleep so that he’d be at least a little useful during tomorrow’s diplomatic visit. His secretary was waiting for further information about the encyclical; Clement hadn’t invited him for a game in weeks by now nor did he talk to him much at all anymore; and most importantly, his ass was cold. Aldo Bellini was drunk, heartsick, and miserable, and he was going to make it everyone’s problem.

Summary
There is light, and his hands are warm. The beads of the rosary are… wood, smooth and fragile under his fingers. Hail Mary, full of grace. Vincent feels… he feels soft, and small, as if his body was tenderly cradled in the palms of a giant being made out of gossamer, old linens and woollen socks. He snuggles in between the folds of his memories and feels the giant rumble with murmured speech, the language foreign to his ears.
(Do you think he is… Let me check. Your Holiness?)
(Oh, let him be Alexander. Our old man deserves to close his eyes if he wants to.)Or:
It is the end of the year in the Vatican, and above anything else, Vincent Benítez wishes for rest. -

Summary
Innocent was perfectly pleasant sipping his tea while decidedly not noticing that Aldo did not touch his. Instead he offered him some cookies, which were intensely fragrant. He could smell the honey baked into them when he had walked into the room.
“Have one, I tried my hand at baking. Thomas enjoys them a lot.”
Aldo forced a smile and chose his words carefully.
“No, that’s very kind of you to offer.” Rules and warnings were whirring in his head. These meetings were shaping up to be more mentally strenuous than even the chess matches he had held with Innocents predecessor. Dark eyes gleamed amused.
Meanwhile Aldo kept mentally counting the minutes until it was deemed polite enough for him to make excuses and escape the lovely receiving room of the Papal quarters.
Innocent has been exceptionally charming, making even their talks about tedious bureaucratic problems within the secretariat enjoyable, much to Aldo’s chagrin. He kept feeling his guard slip.

Summary
“Have you ever even smoked weed?”
Tim crossed his arms over his chest. “Smoking is bad for your lungs.”
“Great, let’s go get you some edibles,” Jason said, making to get out of bed.
Grabbing his arm, Tim hauled him back. “And I just – I don’t need to be mellowed out, okay!”
Jason looked at him, an absolutely dickish level of delight spreading across his face, and then he was collapsing in laughter again, flat on his back, wiping at the corners of his eyes. “No,” he snickered. “No, you need cocaine. God. You’re a trip, Timmy.”
Blushing so hard he felt like he was sunburning from the inside-out, Tim glared at him. “So are you going to help me or not?”
