“What happened to my first?” Wednesday asks curiously.
“Nothing you can prove,” Enid whispers, swaying even closer, before slowly reaching out and gently tapping Wednesday on the nose. “Boop,” she says, giggling when Wednesday blinks and goes cross-eyed to stare at her own nose.

The gang has lunch. Enid is an equally opportunity flirt. Tyler suffers. Wednesday has the time of her life. And Xavier has a no good, very bad day but no one actually cares about that.

“You’re bleeding all over my carpet,” Enid repeats, nuzzling her face against the pillow with a happy hum. That’s nice. Her head is spinning, trying to pull her back under. Back to her dreams and the butterflies. She loves butterflies, just like Wednesday loves blood. That girl is so weird.
Her eyes shoot open.

Then Alex sees it: a small package at the bottom of the mail bag, the plastic bag crinkling and rattling on its own accord, the source of what Alex now realizes is a high-pitched buzzing sound.
"Oh my God," he says to no one but himself.
There's absolutely no way this is actually happening. There's zero chance he's witnessing this in real time. Because who would actually be dumb enough to order a goddamn vibrator knowing that every piece of mail in the building gets dropped off at one common spot, and what are the goddamn chances the vibrator would be going off inside of the bag?
Or, Alex hooks up with the idiot who thinks it's a good idea to order a vibrator to the front desk of a residence hall. Based on a true story.

There’s literally nothing that gets him more riled up than a good argument, and as much as he hates Reddit user mostardently and their completely wrong opinion on Star Wars, he can’t deny the thrill that zips down his spine every time he gets called an insufferable prick by them.

He's twenty-two when he takes a job offer as a groom in a racing barn (because anything is better than driving forklifts in a warehouse) and full-on faceplants into a world that he's spent his entire life sneaking glorified glimpses of. It's not clean, and it isn't pretty by any stretch of imagination, but somewhere in there he gets a vague notion of what it is that make this the sport of kings.
