Summary
After a vicious attack from the hybrid hunters, Grian’s thigh is wounded, rendering him incapacitated and weak from bloodloss. The wound is severe and fresh—less than a day old—and they don’t have any medicine to help it heal. Nothing but the coarse bandages fashioned out of Scar’s torn jacket.
In an uncertain and cruel world, they need to find a safer place to stay.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Summary
It's been months since Scar and Grian have started calling the vex commune their home, once again finding their footing in a world that's hellbent on making them fail. This time, the ground underneath their feet feels more solid than ever, and they've been reacquainting themselves with concepts of safety and, tentatively, separation.
While Scar talks to Nico about date ideas, Grian ventures out into the forest with Kane to stretch their wings and taste the sunlight. Somewhere along the lines, Grian confesses to Kane he'd like to bring Scar back a gift. Except he has no idea where to look for it in a world as precarious, withered, and cruel as this one.
Surprisingly, Kane has the answers.

Summary
It took so painstakingly long to build this place up. And it burns so easily.
Scar gulps down the air, but it turns to smoke and ashes in his lungs as he watches his whole life go down so fast. He made this—every tiny piece and detail of it—he made it to be a sanctuary. A place for healing. A place for new chances. He needed it, just the same as everyone else who ended up here afterwards.
He still needs it.
They still need it.
