As soon as Arthur entered the room, he folded up the paper and set it aside. He thought he was being discreet. Arthur appreciated the thought, but he didn’t have to see the headlines to know they were there. He’d heard the whispers whenever they’d go to the village. He heard what the radio had to say late at night, when he couldn’t sleep. The good, and the bad. He couldn’t blame the sweet man he’d come to know for wanting to shield him from the harsh words of strangers. This was far from a new development, however. He’d dealt with cutting jabs from news outlets since his own time at the Marsyas orphanage had ended.
Linus knew this. He also knew that Arthur had particularly thick skin when it came to this sort of thing. They’d even shared a few laughs over ridiculous headlines just two nights prior. So why now did Linus deem the news something Arthur’s eyes needn’t see?

Arthur isn't the happiest about the new attention his family has been getting. Linus helps.

After figuring out her feelings in a life-and-death situation, Vex'ahlia doesn't wish to get her hopes up and tries to come to terms with her relationship with Percy. The idea that they could only ever be friends and nothing more did hurt, but she could live with it.
It's hard though, to not feel hopeful, when the man in question asks her out to dinner on fucking Valentine's Day! Will Vex accept the reality of their circumstance, or is there more brewing beneath the surface between them?

He attends with the intention of completing whatever requirements are necessary for him to move on with his life, while participating as little as possible. That is, until a fellow attendee throws a cold bucket of water (metaphorically and literally) on his plans.

He doesn’t know why he calls Vex. He barely sees the numbers as his fingers skitter across the screen. The light of his phone makes his eyes ache. There’s a tremor in his thumbs and he punches in one zero too many.
“Percy it’s four am- whatever is the matter?”Her voice is sharp with annoyance or worry and gravelly with sleep. He tries to breathe but someone has filled his lungs with lead.
“Cassandra is alive. Vex'ahlia - “ he thinks he imagines the catch in her breath “- Vex'ahlia, my sister is alive.”

Alternatively, Percy only tells one person about his plan to cross state lines to find his estranged sister, but five other people tag along anyways.

Vex is drunk.
Vex - miserable, selfish, greedy, and most importantly very drunk Vex - has never seen anything so hilarious.
Percy (not Percy - anonymous white-haired rich dick) clearly disagrees. Or maybe he's just confused; both expressions look just about the same from where she's standing when he finally deigns to turn his head and glare at her. Through his glasses his eyes are bleary and unfocused, and the bridge has left a red mark on his nose. It matches his rosy cheeks nicely.
Percy or not, this guy is also drunk.
He doesn't think it's as funny as she does. Which obviously makes it even funnier.--
