Summary
I liked the original and I originally liked the Live Action but upon rewatch, I wasn't satisfied with the story. I'm writing this to explore how the changes they made created a less cohesive story. Everything is wrong with the Beauty and the Beast Live Action remake. The movie does a cheap job of justifying its own existence. This is a movie made to fix surface level complaints about the original movie. These changes were not only unnecessary but fundamentally ruin their characters, the arcs, and their motivations. The creators added new songs, character traits, and scenes that were intended to improve upon the original but intend create larger problems.

Bodyguard AU - Belle as an author, Adam (Human!Beast) as bodyguard, Beast is a virgin because that's my headcanon anyway, he's fully a human in this AU because that's certainly easier. Belle is English, Adam is French. Tagged Gun Violence for a passing mention of it, but it's not shown on-page.

She placed the pot back on the tray and nodded serenely toward the cup closer to him. He dutifully took it, but waited until she took her own cup and sipped to take a sip of his own. He wasn't a tea guy, but it was fine enough.
"It's a shame," she said quietly over the clink of porcelain, "that you're not French."
He swallowed hard, his heartbeat pumping in his ears. "Why's that?"
Her eyes flicked up to his and he supressed a shiver. "I'm not ashamed to admit I have a type," she said, letting her body relax into the chair. It was like a mask slipping off, and it made him melt a little.
